At the beginning of November, our Chef Thomas Koebel slipped away from La Wantzenau for a week, heading for… Iceland!
Selected by the French Embassy, he took part in the Keimur festival, an event which each year puts a French region in the spotlight. This edition was dedicated to Alsace, and our Chef had the pleasure of sharing our rich culinary heritage with the Icelanders.
During his stay, he also visited the Kópavogur Hotel School, where he taught students how to cook three types of fish in the Alsatian style.
He also presented traditional Alsatian dishes to the French residence, such as choucroute, tarte flambée, sausages and foie gras, as well as our local wines and spirits. The Icelanders were thus able to discover the flavours of our beautiful region and, who knows, maybe sauerkraut will soon be a feature on Icelandic plates?
Already a passionate ambassador for our Alsatian terroir on a daily basis, our Chef is particularly proud to have made Alsace shine beyond its borders. An unforgettable stay, rich in exchanges and discoveries… That’s what being a Chef is all about!
A huge thank you to the French Embassy in Iceland for this wonderful invitation, and to all our partners for making this trip possible!
